STRATOVARIUS Frontman To Co-Host 'Rock Against Child Abuse' Charity Concert

January 16, 2008

STRATOVARIUS frontman Timo Kotipelto will co-host a charity concert for Rock Against Child Abuse (RLHV) with Heta Hyttinen on Saturday, January 19 at Nosturi, Helsinki.

Rock Against Child Abuse is a registered nonprofit organization in Finland. According to a posting on the organization's web site, "Our ultimate mission is to protect the well-being of the children of our society. Our goal is to raise awareness and alert people of the on-going abuse and exploitation of children in the Internet. Together with musicians and their music we want to bring this 'silent' phenomena into the public eye and send a message out loud, the message that any form of child pornography or child abuse is by no means acceptable."

STRATOVARIUS debuted a brand new song, entitled "Last Night on Earth", during their appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival on August 4, 2007 on the "True Metal Stage".

STRATOVARIUS last year entered Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki, Finland to begin recording its new album (the title of which consists of two separate words that both start with "R"). An early 2008 release is expected.

STRATOVARIUS' last, self-titled effort was released in the U.S. in September 2005 via Sanctuary.
